IoT valve commands process

Use this tab when you need to open or close a connected utility service.

What this process does

  • Issues open/close commands to provider systems
  • Tracks command status and completion
  • Keeps an audit history for support and compliance

Before you start

  • Confirm the correct meter and unit
  • Confirm reason for action is documented
  • Confirm operator has permission to perform control actions

Step-by-step

  1. Open Valve Commands.
  2. Select the meter and action (open or close).
  3. Submit the command with clear reason/context.
  4. Monitor status for acknowledgement and completion.
  5. Retry or escalate if command remains pending.
  6. Confirm the final state before closing the case.

Safety notes

  • Use a second-person check for sensitive disconnections
  • Always log customer communication before service interruption
  • Escalate repeated failures to vendor support

Done when

  • Command reaches final successful state or is escalated
  • Service state matches operational intent
  • Command history is complete and auditable
