# IoT meter readings process

> Collect, review, and correct smart meter readings before any billing activity.

Use this tab to confirm fresh readings are arriving for every active meter.

## What this process does

* Shows the latest reading history by meter and unit
* Helps you spot missing, stale, or suspicious values early
* Gives you a clean baseline for consumption and billing

## Before you start

* Confirm you are in the correct property/branch context
* Confirm meters are active and assigned to the right units
* Confirm vendor credentials are valid in the vendors tab

## Daily workflow

1. Open **Readings**.
2. Click **Start Polling** to fetch the newest readings.
3. Sort by **Reading At** and check for stale meters.
4. Filter by **Quality** to find late, estimated, or outlier readings.
5. Fix meter assignment or vendor settings where needed.
6. Re-run polling and verify quality is back to normal.

## Common issues and actions

* **No new readings:** Check vendor account, meter mapping, and active status.
* **Outlier values:** Compare with previous readings and confirm meter/unit mapping.
* **Repeated late readings:** Escalate to vendor support and track in monitoring tabs.

## Done when

* All required meters have current readings for the period
* Quality issues are triaged or resolved
* The team can proceed to consumption calculation
